Do you believe in God?

People have different beliefs when it comes to god, some people believe in god’s existence, and some doesn’t. For the ones who believe in god has different preferences as well. People have different gods that they believe in. ‘Belief’ word in itself is a very strong word. If you believe in god, then god exists but if you don’t god doesn’t exist.

A belief gives you strength and will power, it’s an invisible force that pushes you. If you truly believe in something, that belief can help you, it motivates you. Belief is a reality to someone. A question often raises in psychology that what’s a psychologist’s stance in the concept of god. Is it good to believe in god or it’s detrimental for a person. A psychologist has a neutral stance regarding this during therapy. But a distinction is made whether this believe is delusional or not. If not delusional it can serve as quite beneficial for the person. Also, this belief can become counterproductive as well. When someone just sits and wait for the god to do all the work, but it doesn’t work that way. In order to get the fruit, you need to sow the seeds. Making a distinction about when this belief is becoming counterproductive is very important.

A belief can be a hope to hold onto when everything else in life is falling apart and nothing is making sense anymore. A belief can help the person to resurrect. Believing in God is not limited to the temples, churches or mosques or believing in the existence of the creator of the universe. God can also be a force, a divine power, it doesn’t have to have a face or an identity, it can be anything. Believing in god can also be believing in oneself as god resides in each one of us. Also believing in god doesn’t always mean that you worship god, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you follow the rituals. It’s simply that there’s a divine power, a power that empowers you, that gives you hope and you believe in the existence of this power.

How does a believe empowers us? When someone believes in god, they believe that god will only do  good, and everything has a meaning and a purpose to it. This thought gives them power to endure pain and hardship believing that it will lead to prosperity or anything positive. It gives them a feeling that they have a true companion who will never abandon them, someone who is always going to show them the right direction or path. Sometimes this divine power communicates to us through our intuition, we often get a gut feeling or intuition. It’s the divine power trying to show the right path or direction. There are many other ways through which god communicates to us, we just have to be very aware and conscious to understand the signs.

None of this would make sense to you if you don’t believe in god, that’s how much powerful a belief can be, completely altering reality. It’s quite debatable whether believing in god has benefits over someone who doesn’t or vise versa. What do you think?
