The Deceptive Social Media

Image
“There are only two industries that call their customers ‘users’: illegal drugs and software” -Edward Tufte Whenever you buy something new, don’t you interrogate about the product? Don’t you try to get all the information possible about it, all the pros and cons? But why do you do that? Because you are going to consume that product and you want the best, is that right? Now how much did you think before installing any of the social media apps? Did you try to think or investigate that how does it work? What are the pros and cons? You sure know all about the pros but how much do you know about the cons? So let me put a light upon how social works and manipulates human psychology. Artificial Intelligence If you are a consumer of this product then it’s very important that you are well versed with ‘artificial intelligence’. We all know what is human intelligence, the ability to learn, understand and adapt. Artificial intelligence is the intelligence of a machine. It’s is not na...

Regulating Emotions (part 2)

Image
Being conscious leads to being in control . It’s happens somewhat this way- 1.       You become conscious 2.       Then you know how you feel, how the situation is (you have analysed the situation and yourself) 3.       Logic and reason is embedded in us, it’s always there but earlier it was blinded by our emotions but this time it’s not 4.       Now you know what’s the right thing to do or say (you are totally conscious of whatever you are doing so you will be in control of expressing yourself) 5.       Emotions will be in control.   “I don’t know why I did what I did” If you think about it, it makes total sense. Like have you ever said “I don’t know why I did what I did”. It’s because you actually didn’t know why you did it, you were not aware of what you were doing and you just did without thinking about its repercussions. If you eve...

Regulating Emotions (Part 1)

Image
Sometimes we become so ignorant of things or so blind that the reality is right in front of us and we are not able to see it. Humans are very much driven by emotions, which is a good thing because it helps us in many ways and many others around us. But sometime they become the source of our problem and this happens when we are blinded by emotions. Let that emotion be love or anger or sadness or happiness. Anything in excess is damaging and so are good things. Like eating too much causes vomiting. Extreme happiness and euphoria is a mental illness.   Regulating emotions    The key solution here is “controlling emotions” or an even better term “regulating emotions”. This all comes under the concept of emotional intelligence which is as much important as any other form of intelligence.  We are never explicitly taught about emotional regulation and it’s believed that it comes with age as does wisdom. We spent our lives without knowing that how much weightage we ar...

Spiritual awakening through Yoga

Image
Everything we have done in our life so far has been in pursuit of a single thing: joy . If we had been born as any other creature on this planet, it would have been very simple. Our needs would have just been physical. A full stomach would have been equivalent to a great day. But when we came into this world as human beings, things changed. As soon as the problem of hunger gets resolved, an infinite other problems arise. For a human being, life doesn't seem to end with survival, life begins with survival. If we see today's generation, our survival process is better organised than it was before. We can buy or get anything we need even without stepping out of our house, this was never possible before. We are the most comfortable generation to have ever lived on this planet. But are we the most joyful? The most loving? Or the most peaceful? No. We are not. We tried our best to fix the outside world. But still, we are not happier than our ancestors. This is because we focused...

Connect with yourself

Image
A day has 24 hours and by subtracting the hour we spend on sleep, we spend around 15 hours awake. How much of it do we spend with ourselves? And what is our own importance for ourselves? Does the answer of these two match like are they congruent? Being congruent means that if you are important to yourself then you spend around an hour of a day with yourself. Then these two statements are congruent. But if you are important for yourself but don’t even spend 15mins of a day with yourself, then these two statements are not congruent.   Two steps towards connecting with oneself. First is to realize the importance of oneself   Why are we even important for ourselves? Well why shouldn’t we be important for ourselves? What’s their not to love and cherish? We should be the most important person in our own life. We should be our own priority.  S econd is to spend time with oneself .  In our busy lives we often underestimate our own importance and the importance o...
